For many years rose oil has played an important role in the economic and cultural history of Asia. In these times, oils that has been perfumed with the scent of rose had been used in religious ceremonies. One of the Arabic writers ”Ibni Haldun” informs us in his books about rose products and how they are produced. He also mentions that rose juice was a merchandise in the 8. and 9. centuries and could be transported to China and India. Constantin VII had called the rose juice a beauty elixir. Rumour has it that for the first time in the 14. century the daughter of the Iran shah “Nevcihan” has thought that rose oil could be used. In the marriage of Nevcihan with Cihangir the pools in the garden of the palast had been filled with rose juice instead of water. Later Nevcihan saw the oil that was on the surface of the rose juice and she wanted this oil to be separated from the juice. At the time when it has been discovered that rose oil has a favourable perfume they began to produce rose oil. In Europe rose oil trade has begun in 1813.
